Aquaman box office collections have crossed $1 billion .Warner Bros and the DC Extended Universe are having a blast with Jason Momoa's Aquaman. The DC superhero movie Aquaman grossed $700 last weekend and now at the international box office and now the Jason Momoa's starrer movie Aquaman has reached at $1 billion global by the end of its fourth week.
As per reports, on January 10, Jason Momoa-starring movie earned a further $5.8 million in 79 overseas markets. With that, Aquaman now holds $971.5 million worldwide and is now as per movie experts, set to become one of the most profitable movies of all time.
As per Deadline, the fourth week is big a charm for Aquaman as after earning such a huge amount, getting $28.6 million by the weekend wasn't a big deal for the movie.
Prior to Aquaman, there have been other DC movies that did wonders at the box-office. Wonder Woman earned $821.8 million worldwide, Suicide Squad earned $746.8 million. Whereas, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice made a whopping $873.6 million. But it is worth noting that even though these movies earned well at the box-office, they are not considered great because these movies failed to impress the audience and critics alike.
It is just a matter of time for Jason Momoa's Aquaman to earn $1 billion at the box-office and when it does, it will officially become the 5th biggest release of 2018 surpassing Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
In other news, it was announced in December 2018 that Warner Brothers Pictures is planning an Aquaman sequel in which Jason Momoa will return as Arthur Curry. Even James Wan has stated that his DC movie leaves room for further stories to tell with the same characters.
"There's definitely stories, even within the world we've created, that you can actually see other storylines [spinning off from] as well. There's the Aquaman story, but then there's the stories of the seven different kingdoms as well. I think those would be very fun to explore."
Even Jason Momoa has stated that he himself has some ideas about the beginning of Aquaman 2 and when he pitched them to the studio, he received a positive and enthusiastic response.
